Lesson 63 · لَا رَيْبَ
None at all: لَا + noun
لَا before an indefinite noun denies the whole kind: لَا شَكَّ (no doubt at all). The noun takes a single fatha with no tanween: لَا رَجُلَ فِي الْبَيْتِ (there is no man at all in the house). You already know the greatest example: لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ (there is no god but Allah).

Key points
- Everyday phrases: لَا بَأْسَ no problem, it’s fine · لَا شَكَّ no doubt · لَا أَحَدَ no one · لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ there is no power and no strength except with Allah.
- Surah al-Baqarah opens with it: ذٰلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ (that is the Book, there is no doubt in it).
- Compare with لَيْسَ (lesson 14): لَيْسَ فِي الْبَيْتِ رَجُلٌ (there isn’t a man in the house) is a plain statement; لَا رَجُلَ فِي الْبَيْتِ is stronger: not a single man.
