Meet, wait, ask forgiveness: اِفْتَعَلَ and اِسْتَفْعَلَ
Two more common patterns. اِفْتَعَلَ adds ت after the first root letter: جَمَعَ (gather) → اِجْتَمَعَ (meet, get together). اِسْتَفْعَلَ adds اِسْتَـ and often means asking for something: غَفَرَ (forgive) → اِسْتَغْفَرَ (ask forgiveness).

Examples
اِجْتَمَعَ الطُّلَّابُ فِي الْقَاعَةِijtamaʿa ṭ-ṭullaabu fil-qaaʿatiThe students gathered in the hall.
اِنْتَظِرْنِي هُنَاintaẓirnii hunaaWait for me here.
اِشْتَرَيْتُ سَيَّارَةً جَدِيدَةًishtaraytu sayyaaratan jadiidatanI bought a new car.
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّٰهَastaghfiru llaahaI ask Allah’s forgiveness.
اِسْتَقْبَلَنَا فِي الْمَطَارِistaqbalanaa fil-maṭaariHe welcomed us at the airport.
أَسْتَعْمِلُ الْحَاسُوبَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍastaʿmilu l-ḥaasuuba kulla yawminI use the computer every day.

- The first alif is silent inside a sentence: ثُمَّ اسْتَغْفَرَ is read “thumma staghfara”.
